
Patten University is a private, non-profit university affiliated with the Patten Educational Foundation (“PEF”) and accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission. The university was previously named American Graduate University, and is separate from the defunct institution named “Patten University” founded by PEF that operated until 2020.

Three out of four Patten students receive tuition-based financial assistance from the Federal Government, including the DOD and the Department of Veterans Affairs. Patten offers an interest-free per course tuition payment plan.

Patten University is institutionally accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC). DEAC is listed by the U.S. Department of Education as a recognized accrediting agency. DEAC is also recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
Patten University has approval from the California Bureau of Private Postsecondary Education to grant degrees. Approval means that Patten is in compliance with state standards set forth in California Education Code Title 3, Division 10, Part 59, Chapter 8.
