Patten
University, founded in 1944, is a private institution of higher education accredited
by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).* At Patten
University students learn the skills they need to become national and
international leaders in ministry, business, the liberal arts, education
and other professional areas. Patten’s purpose is to provide students
of all backgrounds with a rigorous, challenging education that is based on
Judeo-Christian values and that inspires commitment to community service.
With
its main campus located in the San Francisco Bay Area’s community of Oakland, California, Patten University offers programs
through three schools. Patten College is the residential
undergraduate campus providing more than 15 majors and programs. The Graduate School of Professional Studies
offers the Master of Arts in Education program. The School of Extended and Continuing Education provides students
throughout the nation and the world with opportunities to complete
baccalaureate, certificate, and training programs.
Patten’s
educational approach helps students become aware of the traditions and
cultures that have shaped various societies and understand their own role
in the larger world community. Patten University embraces diversity
in gender, culture, race, ethnicity and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Patten University is a beacon for
students who seek high standards of learning combined with a strong ethical
foundation from which to make informed moral choices. Our curriculum
challenges students with topical issues, relevant knowledge and
leading-edge skills. The inspiring and supportive environment allows men
and women to grow spiritually and academically, and find and develop their
unique talents and achieve real-world skills, knowledge and experience.
Classes are purposely small so that students receive a high degree of personal
attention from faculty while also enjoying interaction with fellow class
members. Whether students take courses in a traditional classroom,
extension site or online, our faculty is dedicated to creating a one-on-one
learning experience.
